I am a mover and a maker.
I earned a BFA in Dance from the Ohio State University and an MFA in Modern Dance from the University of Utah.
I performed professionally as a company member of Kathy Dunn Hamrick Dance Company for six years and worked closely with dancer, choreographer, and friend Alyson Dolan while in Austin, Texas. I have also performed work by Halie Bahr and Virginia Broyles in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have performed at Austin Dance Festival, Brazos Dance Festival, Barnstorm Dance Festival, and at universities and public schools around Texas. My experience developing autonomy and intuition as a professional dancer inspires my belief that performers are choreographers through their presence and instinctual choices on stage.
I am driven to shape authentic inner experiences for the dancers and collaborators in my choreographic work. I continue to use solo creative work to explore emotional processing through movement and research the convergence of vulnerability and empowerment in performance practice.
In the last few years, I have experimented with combining my choreography with multi-media installations, visual art sets, structured improvisation in performance, and developing screen dance. I have presented choreography in the Austin Dance Festival and, most recently, in 5x7 Dance Fest. This fall, I will be presenting choreography in the Small Plates Choreography Festival in Austin, Texas!
